The Essential Skills Series (ESS) consists of four, one-day foundational modules. The modules have been designed by the Canadian Evaluation Society to introduce and enhance program evaluation skills and promote the professional practice of evaluation across Canada. There will be opportunities for group exercises and discussion during the modules. Participant workbooks will be provided for each module.

Facilitator - Shelby Corley

A Credentialed Evaluator with a Master of Arts in Anthropology, Shelby has worked in evaluation, research and project management for the past ten years. She has been involved in projects in several fields within healthcare and community programs. Shelby is a regular facilitator of the Essential Skills Series, an ARECCI Project Ethics Level 1 facilitator, and presents regularly at relevant conferences.

  • Those who are beginning to manage and use evaluation projects within their organizations
  • Novice evaluators looking for an introduction or refresher course on the main concepts, methods and issues in program evaluation

Do I have to attend all four modules or can I only attend a few of them?

You do not need to attend all four modules, however you will not receive certification for the course if you do not. Also, non-members will still need to purchase a CES membership added to the cost of the first module attended. Send an email to cesalberta@gmail.com if you do not wish to attend the full course.

What's the refund policy?

Participants are eligible for a full refund up to 24 hours before the first module begins. Once the course has begun, only special circumstances allow for a refund such as a family emergency.

If a non-member requests a refund but has already participated in one module, their membership fee is non-refundable as it is part of the first module cost.
