Description

If you want to strengthen, ground, and expand your evaluation practices, this course is for you! Specifically, this online course provides an overview of five common evaluation approaches:

1) Utilization-focused evaluation

2) Practical participatory evaluation

3) Theory-driven evaluation

4) Realist evaluation, and

5) Transformative evaluation.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

1) Explain how evaluation theories and models contribute to improved evaluation practice.

2) Recognize four families of evaluation theories.

3) Describe the characteristics of five widely used evaluation approaches, and,

4) Identify considerations in selecting an evaluation approach.

The facilitator of this course will be Ryan Catte, MA, CE. With over 7 years of experience as an evaluator working in the public, private, and not-for-profit sector, Ryan will use his diverse experience to help you try out all five common evaluation approahces over the 6 week course to reflect on the fit between the approach, your own practices, and the contexts in which you work.

Each week, participants will be responisble for reading the relevant course material, participating in an online discussion forum, and completing an assignment (approximately 3 hours of work per week).

Space is limited and preference will be provided to individuals residing outside of Winnipeg.
