The Academy for Sustainable Innovation is pleased to announce the first running of its intensive graduate level class: Challenges and Opportunities in Transition to a Low-Carbon Economy.

This class serves as an introduction to the concept of ‘transition’ to a low carbon, sustainable and just economy and explores the disruptive implications of transition for all aspects of society and the economy.

Led by Dr. David Wheeler, students will learn basic principles of strategy and design, and explore approaches to effective leadership and cooperation across sectors: public, private and civil society.

Classes will run 9 am – 5 pm Eastern Standard Time, Monday to Friday July 23rd – 27th 2018.

The program consists of ten sessions of approximately 3.5 hours spread over five days. There will be a maximum of 40 students per class to ensure optimum dynamics and team diversity.

CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION: Free to students enrolled in a Canadian University or College program. Students must register interest by June 29th and submit a 250 word application “why this class will help with my career” to the Course Director david.wheeler@sustainableinnovation.academy

There are a very limited number of placements available in the class to ‘participant mentors’ – young and mid-career professionals with an interest in mentoring the next generation of Canadian leaders in transition to a low carbon economy.

Participant Mentors will:

  • Attend the Master Class 9-5 Monday-Friday and participate in all the learning sessions
  • Be assigned to an ‘action learning set’ of 4-5 grad students with similar interest to the participant mentors (matching process to happen in advance of the week)
  • Coach the students in developing personal development plans linked to the content of the class and the future possibilities for action they wish to pursue individually or collectively.

Places are strictly limited and participant mentors are invited to register as soon as possible for the event. All applicants will be contacted by Dr David Wheeler, Course Director.
