  • An explanation about the "calibration specifications" that are followed when porcelain tile is manufactured 
  • how the quality, variety of sizes, and intended use of the porcelain tile can affect the installation method; 
  • importance of surface preparation as the size of the porcelain tile increases. 

The presentation also covers how the grout joint size and the mortar type used can affect the performance of a large-format porcelain tile installation. - - how an installation can be influenced by curvature, thermal movement,


About the Speaker:


Pierre Hebert: Pierre is the Manager of Technical Services and has serviced MAPEI clients for over 26 years.  

He is a member of 

  • CSC (Construction Specification Canada) and on the executive board of the Montreal Chapter. 
  • ICRI (International Concrete Repair Institute) and he’s on the Guide Specification Committee, on the Concrete Repair and Methods Committee and on the Moisture Related Issues with Concrete Floor Finishes sub-committee.  
  • ACI (American Concrete Institute).  
  • TTMAC (Terrazzo, Tile, Marble Association of Canada) on which he participates to the Inspection Committee Report and he’s the Director/supplier division _Eastern region. 


Pierre supported the SSPC (The Society for Protective Coatings) on some document review activities. 

He is one of the co-authors of a Position Document about moisture and floor coverings by the FQRS (Fédération Québécoise des Revêtements de Sol) and on the executive board as well.  Pierre has authored also numerous articles and conferences on the challenges in the floor covering industry.
