Event description
We’re bringing Nova Scotia’s social work community together online to plan, discover & collaboratively develop social justice praxis.

About this event

The Nova Scotia College of Social Workers holds an annual conference each spring for members to meet, collaborate, and share knowledge. The theme of the 2021 conference is: Challenging our Social Justice Lens.

A series of crises has highlighted a few of the realities we witness – and perhaps perpetuate – as social workers. In particular, the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the intertwined effects of social determinants of health that have been systemically neglected or ignored: inequities in income, employment and housing; racism, including our own; violence in relationships; and vulnerabilities and gaps in health and mental health service delivery.

This virtual conference will create opportunities for members of the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers and others in our community to connect online, plan, discover, and collaboratively develop social justice praxis.

The NSCSW annual general meeting will be held on Saturday morning, is open to the public, and is free to attend. We plan to livestream the AGM on our Facebook page, so you can watch it there if the Zoom fills up.

Program information, including the two-day schedule, will be added to the conference website (nscswconference.org) during early March.
