Description

The impacts of current climate variability and the evidence of climate change impacts are continuing to grow and with it our understanding of the challenges we face in adapting to those changes. Building resilience is an important step in preparing to successfully address current and future pressures.

This session is for Municipal Administration and Elected Officials, Conservation Districts, Planning Districts Planners, Government, Agricultural Stakeholders

Objectives

Enhance capacity for translating knowledge into action for undertaking integrated climate preparedness planning that supports broader municipal planning and watershed-based priorities.

Best practices and lessons learned in addressing flooding, excess moisture and water scarcity challenges through distributed storage and green infrastructure initiatives that promote greater resiliency to the impacts of a changing climate in Manitoba.

Current funding information include the most current Federation of Canadian Municipalities climate adaptation programs.
