COSI I – Journey Home (Intro to Harmony) (June 2, 2017)

• Basics of musical logic (scales, harmony)
• Basics of tonal harmony
• Intro to modes
• Intro to form

COSI II – Getting Lost (Harmony II) (June 9, 2017)

• Modulations (applied leads)
• Common chords
• Analysis

COSI III - Follow The Bass (Lyrics + Melody) (June 16, 2017)

• Lyrical analysis
• Understanding how to ‘construct’ melody
• Other forms of logic
• Bring your songs!!!
  

MASTERCLASS – Bring in examples of songs using what we’ve learned so far! (June 23, 2017)

• Create a song using basic form (verse, chorus, bridge, etc.) use at least one secondary lead...you will know what that means ;)

COSI IV – Feel the Beat (Rhythmic Harmony) (June 30, 2017)

• How to create memorable rhythms
• Combine rhythm and melody
• SPEAK THE TEXT

COSI V – Ambiguity and Beauty (other forms of logic) (July 7, 2017)

• Song analysis
• Riff logic
• Other modes (mixolydian, Lydian, etc.)
• Common tone modulations (Thom Yorke’s Trick J )

At the end of the semester you will receive cookies in a congratulatory effort. Many cookies. Should you wish to continue, these classes work as a prerequisite for Project A – where you would conceptualize, write, and share a full album/ep/playlist/song.

**Individual sessions are scheduled on a per week basis.
