Event description

Description

Workshop Description:

Effectively engaging children who have been traumatized can be challenging even for experienced and skilled professionals. Whether trying to determine what has happened or identifying the child’s safety or clinical needs, effective engagement is critical.

This workshop will review current research on effects, and engagement for children at all developmental levels. A review of normative sexual development will be provided to gain a baseline for identifying concerning sexual behaviours.

Focus will be on practical skills which take into account language and cognitive-emotional development. Participants will learn ways to enhance their current skill level in approaching children who have been traumatized.

Level: Intermediate
