Event description

Description

This is our 4th Annual Children's Grief Awareness Event.

The morning session is dedicated to educating children and their families on children’s grief. This is done through showing a movie and having a discussion around feelings, emotions, coping skills and support. This year’s movie is “Wonder Park” by Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies. It was chosen as it illustrates all the emotions of grief that children often face while dealing with loss. It also reinforces the importance of following ones dreams despite adversity. This portion of the event is open to all (not just those who have experienced a loss) and refreshments will be served.

The first 100 children will leave with a "Feel Better" bag. The feel better bag contains a variety of coping strategies that children can implement at home. There will be door prizes for the children. Grief Network Niagara members will information tables to assist families in learning about grief resources in the region.

Ask a Professional This year, when you select the ticket for your child, there will be a space for them to "ask a professional". We will compile these questions and have them put together as a handout that will go in their feel better bag. Before clicking to retrieve your free ticket, please, ask your child if they were to ask a professional about death or terminal illness, what would their question be?

Please note, adults will have the same opportunity when purchasing a ticket in the afternoon.
