Morning Session

  • Dr. Diane Benoit is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, Project Director in the Research Institute at the Hospital for Sick Children, and Staff Psychiatrist at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario.

Her research, education, and clinical activities focus on:

  • Child-caregiver attachment relationships
  • Impact of violence, abuse, and neglect on children
  • Trauma-focused and attachment-focused assessments and interventions
  • Caregivers’ perceptions and subjective experience of their children and relationships with them

Afternoon Session

  • Dr. Sandra Stith is a University Distinguished Professor and the Vera Mowrey McAninch Endowed Professor in the School of Family Studies and Human Services. She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and is a professor and director of the Marriage and Family Therapy program.

Her research, education, and clinical activities focus on:

  • Understanding and treating Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)
  • Developing a treatment program and training model for IPV
  • Publishing “Couples Treatment for Domestic Violence: Finding Safe Solutions”
  • Managing and conducting a variety of family violence-related research projects, including a project to develop and test a risk assessment measure for IPV.
