The Chemical Institute of Canada Toronto Section (CICTor) is launching a new initiative for career exploration and networking! The Career Exploration Series will feature informal talks presented by graduates in the chemical field who are currently working in non-traditional careers in a variety of fields.
Join us for the Career Exploration Series talk on Clinical Chemistry, presented by Dr. Amir Babalhavaeji!
This talk will provide an introduction into the role of a clinical chemist and an explanation of the training process to become a clinical chemistry from the perspective of a current trainee fellow. The talk will be followed by a Q&A and networking period. Light refreshments will be served.
Dr. Amir Babalhavaeji’s Bio:
Amir Babalhavaeji, PhD, is a clinical chemistry fellow at the University of Toronto. He completed his BSc in chemistry at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran. He then moved to Canada for a PhD in biological chemistry at the University of Toronto’s Department of Chemistry. Under the direction of Professor Andrew Woolley, he developed photo-controllable proteins and enzyme inhibitors. As part of his post-doctoral training in clinical chemistry, he is currently engaged in projects on performance evaluation of diagnostic assays as well as laboratory test utilization at multiple academic hospitals in Toronto.
