Event Information
About this Event
The holiday season has always been an important time for family and community gatherings. Although the festivities may look a little different this year, it’s important that we continue to find safe and fun ways to bring the community together.
Santa will be at the Civic Centre from 2 - 6 p.m. to greet Leduc families (in their vehicles) and spread some festive cheer with holiday goodies in gift bags for kids under the age of 18.
This is a registered, ticketed event; only ticket-holders will be permitted to the Drive-Thru. Tickets are $5 per gift bag (for kids under 18), and must be pre-ordered online by Dec. 4. Ticket proceeds will be donated to the Leduc HUB.
*Tickets are limited to ensure we can safely and fully accommodate attendees.
We ask that vehicles approach northbound on 48A Street from Black Gold Drive, and follow the directions of signage and staff.
To ensure the health and safety of all residents and staff, attendees will be required to remain in their vehicles at all times. Walk-ups, bicycles, motorcycles and other forms of non-enclosed transportation will not be permitted to meet Santa. No washrooms will be available to the public. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our community safe and healthy!
Thank you to Co-op and the Leduc Arts Foundry for making this event possible!
FAQs
Why is the city having a Santa Claus Drive-Thru?
Although the ways in which we will be able to gather this holiday season will look a little different, it’s important that we continue to engage with one another and bring our community together.
What does a Santa Claus Drive-Thru involve?
Families are invited to pre-purchase their tickets online by Dec. 4, for $5 per gift bag (for kids under 18). A ticket is required to enter the Drive-Thru. Santa will be at the Civic Centre from 2 - 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, greeting families in their vehicles (from a safe distance) and spreading holiday cheer with gift bags of festive goodies. Residents with tickets are asked to drive to the Civic Centre northbound on 48A Street from Black Gold Drive any time between 2 - 6 p.m., where they will be directed by signage and staff through the Drive-Thru.
How much does a Drive-Thru ticket cost?
Tickets are $5 per gift bag (for kids under 18). A ticket is required to enter the Drive-Thru.
What will be in the gift bag?
Re-usable gift totes will include a gingerbread cookie decorating kit (courtesy of Co-op), and a holiday ornament (courtesy of the Arts Foundry). The ingredient list for the cookies will be provided in the gift bag.
Why do we have to pre-purchase tickets?
For events like these, AHS guidelines require that the city hold a list of participants for two weeks in the event that they need to conduct any contact tracing. For this reason, attendees must pre-order via Eventbrite and vehicles that do not have tickets will not be allowed on-site. Additionally, pre-purchased tickets gives Santa time to ensure he knows how many gift totes to prepare, which then need to sit without being touched for 72 hours to make sure they’re safe for families to enjoy!
What precautions are being taken to protect against COVID-19 exposure?
The health and safety of all Leduc residents is our top priority. To protect against COVID-19 exposure, staff will wear PPE and follow appropriate cleaning and safety protocols. Attendees will be required to answer a number of COVID-19 screening questions on arrival, and must remain in their vehicles at all times. The gift totes Santa is bringing will also be untouched for 72 hours before they are presented to your vehicle.
Do attendees have to wear masks?
No, attendees are not required to wear masks in their vehicles. Staff will be wearing PPE and following health and safety protocols.
Is the city planning any other events this holiday season?
We are evaluating all of our events on a case-by-case basis as we continue to navigate the pandemic. One holiday event that residents can participate in is the Light Up Leduc route—a map of Leduc’s most dazzling holiday décor displays will be provided in the gift tote, for residents to use in a safe, festive family activity of touring the lights in our community. Residents are also encouraged to visit Leduc.ca for the most up-to-date information on city programs and events.
