CityAge - Food’s Future: Scaling Regenerative Agriculture

We use 40 percent of the Earth's land surface for farming. That means our farming practices determine the health of almost half the earth’s landbase. \

As the world navigates threats to global food security, and works to drive down carbon emissions at the same time, it’s never been more important to examine these farming practices and ensure they’re the most effective ones available to us. British Columbia is in an excellent position to lead Canada - and the world - in identifying and scaling those practices.

Regenerative agriculture, a set of techniques that promotes soil health and biodiversity, is emerging as one of the solutions BC can lead the country in developing and scaling.

That’s why CityAge and the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food are coming together to further outline the potential of regenerative farming on December 6.

We will explore the concept of regenerative agriculture, the practices that might be considered regenerative, and its scalability.

Themes will include:

• Exploring the concept of regenerative farming & what growers think about it
• Identifying which practices might fall under the category of regenerative
• Scaling regenerative agriculture practices across the industry
• Maintaining profitability on the farm while adopting these practices
• How agtech supports and enhances regenerative agriculture
