About the Speakers
Ample Labs- Ample Lab is a Toronto-based non-profit that envisions a world where no one has to face homelessness and they use AI to make this dream come true. Chalmers is Ample Labs’ first AI-chatbot and currently, it’s being launched across Ontario in both small and larger municipalities. Chalmers is an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot that helps those people facing homelessness find social services like free meals, shelter, clothing banks, and more across the city. Chalmers operates on desktop and mobile devices and it’s proven to be 60x faster than google in navigating and recommending resources.
MOVE team- MOVE is a collaboration between Code for Canada and the City of Toronto's Transportation Services Division. Transportation Services is responsible for building and maintaining transportation infrastructure in Toronto, and data is foundational to this work. MOVE is a new tool that centralizes the city's collision and traffic volume data, and will enable Transportation Services to take a more proactive approach to decision-making and mobility, with an emphasis on safety and Toronto's Vision Zero initiatives. MOVE has accomplished two years of comprehensive user research, prototyping and product development. Currently, MOVE is gearing up for the first launch.
SafeSupport.Chat- SafeSupport.Chat is a private chat and text app designed specifically for the Ontario Coalition of Rape Crisis Centres (OCRCC) and their 30 member centres. Informed by support seekers and frontline workers from sexual assault centres, this real-time messaging chat service offers secure online support to survivors of sexual violence and harassment. Using the open-source, decentralized communication platform, Matrix, Safe Support Chat provides anonymous and end-to-end encrypted communication while allowing sexual assault centres complete control over their own chat services and any data related to it. Safe Support Chat was developed and tested by a broad group of people committed to expanding access to sexual assault support including the core Project Team of PRIMAL GLOW Communications, Nomadic Labs, and Brent Edwards Consulting. The creation of Safe Support Chat has been funded through the “Using Technology to Better Support Survivors: Innovation in Frontline Settings” Innovation Fund Project through the Ministry of Community and Social Services, Office of Women’s Issues.
