Description
CivicMuslims volunteers have come together to plant thousands of trees across the GTA over the years. This Fall we are joining the City of Mississauga’s One Million Trees campaign to plant 150 trees at Jack Darling Memorial Park.
On Saturday, September 28th, join us for a fun day tree planting and hanging out with other volunteers. The event will go rain or shine. Please dress appropriately. Closed toed shoes are required to participate in the event. Refreshments, gloves and tools will be provided, but bring your own if you have them to cut down on waste. Event is children friendly. Waiver form must be signed at the event by all volunteers.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
9:30am - Registration and welcome
10:00am - Orientation followed by tree planting
12:00pm - Wrap up and lunch (optional)
For those able to join afterwards we will head out for a delicious lunch at a nearby halal eatery to re-charge. Spots are limited, sign up asap!
How to get there:
-
Transit: take the GO train to Port Credit station. Email us to arrange for a carpool with other volunteers from Port Credit station.
-
Driving: exit the QEW at Hurontario St. and head south towards Lakeshore, turn west on Lakeshore and look for the park on the south side. Free parking available.
*Note: we charge a nominal $5 volunteer sign up fee for adult registrations to ensure that the limited spots available are reserved for committed volunteers. This helps mitigate against no-shows and cancellations. The sign up fee is not meant to be a barrier to participation. The nominal proceeds from the registration help self-sustain our community service initiatives. CivicMuslims is a registered not-for-profit corporation.
