Event description

Description

Sunshine Cathedral - A South Florida LGBTQIA+ progressive Christian congregation is hosting its second annual Civil Rights History Bus Tour. This year the tour begins in New Orleans and includes visiting major civil rights historical sites and locations like Mississippi's new Civil Rights Museum, Birmingham's historic Civil Rights plaza, the site of Dr. King's assassination in Memphis (now a museum), the site of school desegregation in Little Rock. We will also visit the Clinton Library and two very different and impactful Louisiana plantations on the Mississippi River.

Some great Memphis BBQ and a plantation buffet lunch are included as are all hotel costs and venue fees. The bus is equipped with WiFi, outlets and a restroom. The bus seats 50 but we are limiting the tour to 30 so we can be comfortable while on the road.

The price is $780/pp (plus ticketing fees) based on double occupancy (we will make every effort to pair those travelling alone). You are responsible to get yourself to and from New Orleans if you are not local to the area.

This will be a monumental, perhaps life-changing experience as we get up close and personal with our nation's history of African American oppression and the struggle for freedom and equality. To have this experience in an LGBTQIA+ group will make it all the more meaningful and special.
