Description

The legalization of recreational marijuana presents employers with a new reality which leaves many uncertain how to create or update policies to be compliant. In this workshop we will discuss various implications to consider, scenarios you may encounter, and strategies to support you going forward.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Understand policy difference between medicinal and recreational marijuana use

  • Distinguish “safety sensitive” positions

  • Recognize limitations of impairment and drug testing

  • Familiarize with relevant case law decisions

About the Facilitator:

A passionate Human Resources Professional and Leadership Coach, Theresa Henriksen is an Engagement Associate at Engaged HR and is the Incoming Chair on the Advisory Council for the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources of BC & Yukon. After graduating with her Commerce Degree from UVic, her career in human resources has included experience in the Hi-tech, Retail, Hospitality & Tourism, Telecommunications & Service, Not-for-Profit, and Construction industries. With her focus on people and the employment relationship, Theresa’s expertise has been centered on recruitment and selection, performance management and employee relations.
