About this event

The Clean Energy Zone, housed in Ryerson University’s Centre for Urban Energy (CUE), is an incubator focused on clean, sustainable energy innovations including electric vehicles, renewable energy, energy storage and distribution, microgrids and net-zero city building. We bring researchers, students and industry partners together to commercialize sustainable solutions that address societal needs and provide real environmental, social and economic impact.

The objective of this challenge is to design innovative sustainable solutions to present-day or near-future challenges in the energy sector. The idea is to bring together team members with diverse backgrounds that can contribute with their knowledge, to achieve a comprehensive design. This collaborative work will reflect all team members’ perspectives including technical, economic, environmental, and social points of view.

The challenge: Identify, create and deliver projects that teach and empower others to implement economically viable solutions to relevant sustainability issues in cities and communities.

Details of the challenge, the technologies and the application areas will be provided on the day of the challenge.

First prize: $100 per team member + incubation in the Clean Energy Zone
