About this Event

On behalf of the Climate Risks for Coastal Transportation Infrastructure Community of Practice, the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction and the SIREN project through MEOPAR, we are pleased to invite you to attend our workshop titled “Addressing Climate Risks to Coastal Transportation Infrastructure in Atlantic Canada Following a Large Hurricane”.

This one-day workshop will focus on the occurrence of a catastrophic hurricane hitting the Atlantic coast in order to discuss and assess the preparedness of the coast for such an event. The workshop will include researchers and practitioners who are invested in making sure that measures are in place to create more resilient transportation infrastructure on the east coast. We aim to share knowledge regarding the current state of the coastal transportation, how the coast would be impacted by a large hurricane as well as how to move forward in making the coastal communities and infrastructure more resilient. The SIREN project will look specifically at the emergency response phase if there are disruptions to ports and/or shipping.
