Event description
This certificate course prepares the experienced practitioner to provide resiliency-informed clinical supervision.

About this Event

This 30-hour, 4 week certificate course prepares the experienced practitioner to provide resiliency-informed clinical supervision. Participants are guided in a review of models of supervision, and will learn the competencies required in supervision and how to apply ethical principles in this context. Participants in the course will work together and with the instructor to practice skills and apply theory.

Janet White brings a 25 year career-long focus on clinical supervision to the design of this course. Janet is trained as an AAMFT clinical supervisor (2004) and is the only Canadian to be trained in Certified Clinical Supervision by the renowned Australian Professional Supervision (Clinical) program (2019).

This comprehensive course is designed to meet the needs of professionals working in agencies, universities or associations where clinical supervision training is required. It is suitable for those with a relevant Masters degree or a BA/ BSW with extensive experience in the field.

COURSE STRUCTURE – TWO PARTS

The 30-hour course is structured over 4 weeks to make the best use of time for learning theory, reflection and integration, discussion, practice, and feedback from the instructor.

A - LECTURE & ACTIVITIES (Preparation)

Participants will be guided through weekly (Monday evening) interactive activities on Zoom, including a lecture, that will invite participants to consider and discuss their own practice and the field. The instructor is ‘live’ for this lecture and guides the class. This portion of the course will be recorded and therefore available anytime during the week. Attendance is optional. Assigned videos, articles and readings add depth to the discussion, practice and learning.

B – EXPERIENTIAL (Practice)

On Fridays, all participants will join a 4-hour Zoom class led by the instructor. Attendance and participation are required for the certificate. This time will give everyone an opportunity to practice clinical supervision in a variety of role plays. Participants will be encouraged to record and share their practice to support the depth of learning clinical supervision, as well as advanced considerations for supervising supervision.
