COURSE OPTIONS:

Functional Myofascial Anatomy: An Integrative Approach to the Body: 14 CEC's Price: $499 Non-member price: $599. Sunday & Monday, September 11 & 12, 2022 Instructed by Dr. Jess Reynolds Time – 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

“The ankle bone is connected to the leg bone.” We all know the song. When we learn anatomy in massage school, we learn about the ankle bones and all the muscles of the ankle, then move on to the leg and learn all of the bones and muscles of the leg, and then continue our way in this pattern throughout the body. As we do so, we forget the key to the song… connected.

For some people, the traditional approach of learning anatomy one region of the body at a time works just fine. But for most, simply memorizing the names of muscles and bones of a specific region of the body does little more than allow us to pass a test in school. Once the test is over, it doesn’t take long before the names and terms start to fade from memory. This is the reality for many RMTs, which is unfortunate because the deeper you understand anatomy, the more effective your treatments and assessments can be.

In Functional Myofascial Anatomy: An Integrative Guide to the Body, Dr. Jess Reynolds takes a new approach to teaching anatomy. In this two-day anatomy immersion workshop, you will be guided through the entire body, diving deep into not just the actions and locations of muscles, ligaments and joints, but how they all interact and connect fascially. By looking through the lens of myofascial meridians, you will develop a more holistic understanding of anatomy that will lead to new ways of approaching treatment.

The purpose of this course is to introduce Athletic Taping for common sports injuries to Manual Therapists, Kinesiologists, and Personal Trainers.

Athletic taping is a skill that is under-utilized by most Manual Therapists, Kinesiologists, and Personal Trainers, typically reserved for Field of Play Medical Teams, such as Certified Athletic Therapists, Sport Physiotherapists, and Sport Medicine Doctors. Unless you are a Sports Massage Therapist or have been involved in athletics, you may not be aware of the benefits of Athletic Taping.

Athletic taping is performed by applying tape to the body on the skin surface to maintain a stable position of joints and muscles during physical activity. Athletic taping is multifaceted, being used for several reasons, injury prevention, injury management, and maintaining proper biomechanics during activity.

Through a combination of lecture and practical sessions, this course will explore athletic taping techniques for the purpose of:

Stabilizing or restricting the range of motion of an injured joint to allow physical activity with reduced pain

Compress soft tissue to support the musculotendinous unit.

Support injured structures via athletic taping / wrapping.

This is NOT a K-Tape course. Athletic Tape will be included with this course.
