Event description
Learn how to use the Tormach PCNC 1100 S3 milling machine

About this event

CNC Metal Milling 101

Learn the basics of our CNC (computer numerical control) Milling machine, the Tormach PCNC 1100 S3. This robotic cutting tool can create parts with complex curves and surfaces out of a variety of metals, allowing its user to create high precision parts.

This orientation will show students how to properly setup and clean up the machine, how to prepare a simple design using the Pilot Path software for Tormach, and how to cut a simple part. Each student will get hands-on experience operating the Tormach machine.

Please note, this course is to teach you how to use the machine safely, not how to be a machinist. Students will acquire enough information to run the Tormach safely, and continue on an independent learning journey.

Included in the class fee is a 30 minute consultation with a MakerLabs staff member, to be scheduled within 30 days of taking the class.

MakerLabs' membership is required in order to access this tool after the class.

We require that students must bring their own safety glasses or they will be available for purchase at the front desk for $5
