CNC Router 101
The computer-numerical-control (CNC) router is a robotic cutting tool that can create parts with complex curves and surfaces out of woods, plastics, foams, and other composites (no metal on these machines please).
In this class, we'll prepare a simple 2D profile and learn how to safely control the 3-axis ShopBot CNC router. We'll be using VCarve (CAD/CAM software) to convert vector deisgns to toolpaths, and each student will get hands on experience operating the CNC router.
Included in the class fee is a 30 minute consultation at a future date for your first project with one of the staff fabricators at MakerLabs.
