Manual Therapists, Meet Fascia!

Join the pioneers of a paradigm shift from the outdated view of “Fascia as separate parts” to the new rising field of study discovering the vast network and dynamic nature of “Fascia as Living Strands of Plasma.”

The present medical model is based on the study of the empty shell. Come work with the living essence through CoAT.

CoAT is a revolutionary view of soft tissue manipulation unlike any other, offering breakthrough treatments to alleviate pain, and restore function of many conditions that up until now have been a mystery to solve.

The technique is simple, gentle for the therapist to do, gentle for the patient to receive and powerful in the results achieved. People are astounded at how impacted they feel from such gentle work.

CoAT helps direct tissues toward homeostasis with respect for the body’s innate nature to know how to heal.

Without question CoAT will transform your practice whether you are a Massage Therapist, Osteopath, Chiropractor, Physiotherapist, Acupuncturist, or any manual practitioner.

CoAT Method is a MUST to know about to be present in this day and age with the changes in our environment, and changes in the presentation of people’s pain.

About CoAT Method

CoAT: is an acronym for “Course of Applied Tensegrity”

Course: “as a river flows” refers to the movement of fluids in the body.

Applied Tensegrity: “tension integrity” refers to the suspension design of fascia.

One of the simplest definitions of Tensegrity is described as: “Islands of compression floating within a sea of tension.” -Buckminster Fuller

The part moves the whole and the whole moves the part and the circle is unbroken” -Marjorie Haynes

Think of a spider web. Now expand that web from one plane into a multidirectional globe.

Now compress the web, and expand the web, and imagine how easily all the strands move and restore their shape in response to one another.

Think of the web as strands of a semi-fluid matrix: slipping, sliding, sticking, stretching, rebounding…always moving. Now you are starting to meet fascia.

Next, all you need is to feel the CoAT "elastic dance."

About The CoAT Course - Advanced Palpation and Assessment:

In the mid 1960’s research was conducted at the University of Paris to understand tubules finer than hair that were noted stemming from the nucleus of cells. Dye was used to follow the tubules and what was discovered were patterns along meridian lines.

The tubules were found to carry electrolytes and nutrients from every nucleus of individual cells along the meridians to every nucleus of every cell of the corresponding organ.

In the CoAT Advanced Palpation and Assessment course, organs are CoAT treated through indirect, non-manipulation techniques along the meridian lines.

Advanced palpation is taught to treat and feel for congestion along the meridians, and assessment techniques are practiced to monitor the effect of treatment.

About Marjorie Haynes

In 1987 Marjorie experienced a life changing calling to leave her profession as a musician and enter into the medical field as a Registered Massage Therapist.

During her second year at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy, she met a healer from Denmark named Gurli Ohm Hernu, and began her apprenticeship as a healer. While learning about the anatomy of the body, she learned the anatomy of energy at the same time. The combination of these somewhat opposing views created a pioneering spirit to continually learn and develop what some may call a visionary approach to Life itself.

As an RMT, Marjorie has been in private practice in Vancouver, BC, since 1990. She was a TA, instructor and clinic supervisor of WCCMT in the early nineties. In 1994 she was among the first top ten in Canada to be certified in Neuromuscular Therapy, St. John Method. She is indebted to many people for her training and perspectives, including: Natale Rao, Paul St, John, Alan Gehan, John Upledger, Armand Ayalton, Howard Jones, and Dr. Stephen Levine (Grandfather of Bio-Tensegrity.)

In 1997 Marjorie established the Open Door Healing Arts Centre, and in 1999 began teaching a variety of healing arts based on Spiritual and Energy forms. In 2003 she developed a series of Massage Therapy workshops based on the model of Tensegrity. Marjorie has been offering the accredited Applied Tensegrity (CoAT Method) series since 2004.

In 2012 Marjorie was ordained through the Centre for Sacred Studies, and holds the title of “Minister of Her Walking Prayer.” Her walking prayer, based on global indigenous studies, is the prayer of Mother Earth to remember her as a Living Being.

In 2017 the new Open Door Centre for Healing Arts was created as a focus for teaching, located now in South Surrey BC.
