Kids take their coding skills to the next level, with more advanced game-making and animations!

Kids create more sophisticated games using Scratch, a programming language created by MIT and recommended for ages 8-17 thanks to its intuitive but powerful programming features!

Game Makers Advanced

Workshop Details

This 5-week program is a great re-fresher to the fundamentals of coding. Kids create more sophisticated video games that build upon their math, problem-solving and logic skills. Kids also get a chance to present their project to the class.

  • COST: Early Bird Pricing = $150 (No HST) // Regular Price = $160 (No HST)
  • DATES: Sundays, Nov. 19 - Dec. 17, 2017 // **Nov. 26 class at CSI-Spadina, 215 Spadina Ave**
  • TIMES: 2:30 - 4pm (7.5 hrs over 5 weeks)
  • REQUIREMENTS: Kids are encouraged to bring their own laptop or a Codezilla chromebook can be provided (limited laptop availability).
  • CURRICULUM: Each workshop is created by ed-tech teachers and led by a team of vetted instructors.
  • CODEZILLA ADVANTAGE: Small class size for better child:adult ratio. Includes Basic and Advanced content to ensure that each child progresses at his/her own pace.

Why Should Kids Code?

  1. CODING IS A SUPER SKILL: Instead of simply playing a video game, kids learn how to create a video game! This helps build their confidence, technical skills, and perseverance (grit) to succeed.
  2. CODING HELPS WITH MATH: Coding uses math skills like logic, patterns, sequences and coordinates -- and it's more engaging than workbooks or tutoring programs.
  3. CODING LEADS TO JOB OPPORTUNITIES: there will be +1M well-paying and unfilled computing jobs by 2020, yet less than 3% of degrees are in computer science.

Who Is This Workshop For?

  • Intermediate/Adanaced Level - prior coding experience required. Basic and Advanced project levels to ensure that all kids progress according to their abilities.
  • Projects specially designed to appeal to both boys and girls.
  • Parents are welcome to relax in the CSI lounge area.
