Event description

Description

Did you know that music and coding share many similar principles? Whether your child plays an instrument or just loves music, they'll enjoy transferring these skills into video games and interactive animations!

Kids will create musical projects using Scratch, an introductory programming language created by MIT and enjoyed by millions of budding programmers worldwide.

Codezilla Music Makers coding camp

Workshop Details

This week-long program is a great introduction to the fundamentals of coding. Kids create interactive games that help build upon their music and math skills using fun features like animation, sound recording and graphic design.

  • PRICE: $425 per week. No HST.
  • DATES: July 17 - July 21, 2017
  • TIMES: 9 - 4pm. Extended care (4-5:30pm) is available for $10/day, paid seperately. Please email sheri@codezillakids.com for info.
  • REQUIREMENTS: Kids may bring their own laptop. Otherwise, laptop provided by Codezilla.
  • CURRICULUM: includes Basic and Advanced content to ensure that all kids progress according to their abilities.
  • CHILD-TO-ADULT RATIOS: smallest class sizes guaranteed (4:1 ratio)

Why Should Kids Code?

  1. CODING IS A SUPER SKILL: Instead of simply playing a video game, kids learn how to create a video game! This helps build their confidence, technical skills, and perseverance (grit) to succeed.
  2. CODING HELPS WITH MATH: Coding uses math skills like logic, patterns, sequences and coordinates -- and it's more engaging than workbooks or tutoring programs.
  3. CODING LEADS TO JOB OPPORTUNITIES: there will be +1M well-paying and unfilled computing jobs by 2020, yet less than 3% of degrees are in computer science.

Who Is This Workshop For?

  • Beginner/Intermediate Level - No prior coding experience required.
