Event description

This workshop is being offered to agencies and service providers in the domestic violence and sexual violence sector. It is not open to the general public.

Presentation Topic:

This workshop will explore coercive control, how if differs from current models of domestic violence, and how it can be used to facilitate generative and supportive conversations with people who have or who are experiencing violence. We will explore the research behind coercive control, how it has come into law in England and Scotland and the implications of these legal changes on individuals impacted by domestic violence.

Andrea Silverstone (Executive Director) and Carrie McManus (Director of Innovation & Programs) are a dynamic presenting duo, tackling hard subjects like domestic violence, trauma informed peer programming and the need for systemic and policy change to address domestic violence while throwing in a joke or two and the occasional funny story. Both Andrea and Carrie have a passion for innovation, creating program models and structural policies that elevate untold experiences of domestic violence and ensure that individuals and communities impacted by violence and abuse know that they are supported throughout their experiences.
