Colby Community Church Worship Service, 2020

About this Event

*Please read before registering.

• Finally the time has come to start to meet in our building each week at 10:30 am each Sunday! To ensure we are all safe we will be following these guidelines.

• For those who are not ready to return to in-person services quite yet, our Virtual Church will still be available every Sunday morning on Facebook and our website. An email with a link to our website which includes the sermon and worship playlist will be sent every Sunday morning at 10 am.

Before registering for church, please ask yourself these questions:

  • Have you traveled outside of Atlantic Canada in the past 14 days?
  • Are you experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19?
  • Have you come into contact with anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 14 days?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, please do not register for church. Thank you for keeping Colby Community Church a safe space!

• Hand sanitizers will be provided upon entry and throughout the building.

• Hand washing etiquette signage will be posted in each washroom and entry doors.

• All high-traffic areas and surfaces such as doorknobs, washrooms, and counters will be disinfected before and after the service.

• We will continue our practice of no offering being collected in service. Options for giving are:

  • Drop box (located in the foyer)
  • Mail to Colby Community Church 131 Colby Drive, Dartmouth B2V 1Y2

• All guest information and follow-up will be done electronically.

• Announcements will be delivered on screen and through a Colby Communiqué.

• The emblems for Communion cannot be used, but we can have a “Jesus Moment” each week to carry out His desire to remember Him.

• No weekly bulletin will be provided.

The government of Nova Scotia has mandated that guests not exceed 50 persons. In order to ensure that our auditorium limits its capacity to a maximum of 50 people we will:

• Eliminate every 2nd row from being occupied.

• Create a weekly Online Registration.

• Set aside five seats in the auditorium for visitors.

• Check-in every person that attends the service using a registration list to confirm those in attendance in the event that contact tracing is required.

• Visitors will also be checked in.

• In accordance with the Nova Scotia mask mandate, anyone inside the building will be required to wear a face covering at all times, unless they fall into one of the exemptions as per the following link: (

• No person shall be required to provide proof of any exemptions out of respect for privacy.

• Children under 2 are exempted from wearing a mask.

• Children 2-4 are exempted if their caregiver can’t get them to wear a mask.

• Volunteers and attendees are encouraged to bring reusable masks or face coverings. In the event that someone forgets their mask or face covering, disposable masks will be provided.

• Masks must be worn at all times in the building, including while singing and moving around.

• Signage will be posted throughout the building to remind church attendees about physical distancing; seating arrangements will be established in compliance with physical distancing guidelines.

• Families from the same household or individuals who are in the same social bubble of ten will be seated together, as long as they have registered together as a party. Those who do not live in the same residence or are not part of the same social bubble will have separate seating ready for them.

• To ensure physical distancing, our ushers will be directing each person or party to their seats

• Greeters will check-in parties one at a time, leaving time for them to move towards their seats before the next party is checked-in.

• The flow of traffic will only move in one direction as attendees enter the church and reverse out as they exit. Arrows will be placed on the floor.

• Washrooms will be open for use; however, we ask that they are used only when absolutely necessary.

• Children in service who need to use the bathroom must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

• Please practice physical distancing when walking to and from the bathroom.

• The bathrooms will be sanitized before and after the services.

• Proper hand washing etiquette will be posted in the bathrooms.

We are still working out the details of starting the Sunday School. This document will be updated with further details as we are able.

The nursery is self-use. Please limit one caregiver per child while in the nursery.

In the event that someone who has attended one of our services tests positive for COVID-19, we will:

• Contact everyone who was at the service they attended. This will be possible due to the registration and check-in processes in place.

• Report the case to Public Health, and work with them to keep both the Colby Community Church and the greater community safe from community transmission.

• Assess if it is safe to continue services and adjust as necessary.

To communicate any information and updates, we will share information using:

• Our website,

• Social media - Facebook

• Colby Communiqués

• Signage posted at the entrance and throughout the building

• On-screen before the service begins

We encourage family members of the same household and social bubbles to register together in order to optimize the seating arrangements for our in-person services.

Please note that volunteers must register for each service they are scheduled to serve.
