Thu, 11 May 2017, 8:00 AM – Fri, 12 May 2017, 5:30 PM PDT
Capilano University, in conjunction with the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Police Predictive Analytics Laboratory, Ministry of Justice and ICURS-Computational Criminology and Predictive Policing is organizing a two-day workshop from May 11 to 12, 2017 in North Vancouver. The workshop will bring together university faculty and students interested in the field of analytical criminology with delegates and experts from organizations responsible for community safety, including Police, RCMP, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Social Services, and others. The objective is to share knowledge and discuss the newly emerging data analytics tools that will help criminal justice organizations with more efficient decision-making and prevention/treatment strategies in order to create safer and (mentally) healthier communities. During this workshop, different groups will present so that: 1) the organizations responsible for community safety will be aware of the new analytical techniques available for their use, 2) the university faculty and students will be informed of the immediate and long term needs of these organizations so that they can further develop applications of data analytics specific to the needs of practitioners.
