Presentation by Richard Sivertsen, CTR, LEED Green Associate -  Specification Specialist II – Canada

Richard has been in the door industry since 1980, and is currently with LiftMaster and previously with ASSA ABLOY from 2011-2017. He has extensive experience in all facets of Door Systems/Solutions within Division Eight - Openings, Doors not Hardware.

His passion is working with Architects, Specification Writers, as well as Design Build Contractors and Building Owners. His work with LiftMaster is more focused and specific - educating about current technology and designs together with upcoming standards changing as well as further technological advancements.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the functions of various styles of commercial doors
  • Understand the types of commercial door operators
  • Understand the features of reduction systems and solenoid brakes, as well as the NEMA ratings for enclosures. 
  • Understand the requirements of UL 325 and how it contributes to the safe operation of commercial doors, 
  • List the devices that meet the UL standard and describe their features.
