Event description
What does a "just energy transition" look like to you?

About this Event

As the threat of a warming planet looms increasingly large, a rapid sustainable energy transition is vitally necessary to curb the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions, ensuring that Canada fulfils its commitment to the Paris Agreement by reducing carbon emissions by two percent per year. Alas, while the energy transition has created new opportunities and value for some, the movement unfortunately is not without its blowbacks to various groups.

Join us for our first Big Team of 2019 as we explore the social and economic challenges that particular marginalized groups will face as we push for a sustainable energy transition. We will be joined by Sandeep Pai, author of Total Transition: The Human Side of the Renewable Energy Revolution, who will talk about his experiences and interactions with those most severely affected and at risk of being left behind.

With the intent of creating an opportunity for reflection, dialogue and understanding, we will be running a short workshop which will give everyone the chance to conceptualize and build a vision of a just energy transition that will work for all Canadians.
