Communicating Research to the Media
Thu, 27 April 2017, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM SST
About the workshop:
Researchers need their stories told. Journalists want to tell them. The public is keen to learn about new research that could impact their lives. Yet, some things can be lost in translation.
Journalism students are invited to participate in this workshop during which they will be paired with a young investigator/researcher. They will have an opportunity to interview these researchers about their projects. At the end of each session, each journalist-in-training will explain the research he or she learned about to the group, thereby providing feedback to the trainees on the effectiveness of their communication. This workshop will provide journalists-in-training with valuable hands-on training and help build connections in the field of research.
Each journalist-in-training will receive a certificate of completion.
