The Communitech Academy’s Strong Leaders program will help you become a manager people want to work for. Through this program of practical learning and 1:1 coaching, you’ll explore goal-setting, communication, motivation, coaching and providing feedback, team dynamics, leading through change and personal productivity. On top of it all, you'll develop a network of fellow awesome leaders in the tech community and you will benefit from five 1:1 coaching sessions with an experienced coach.

This program consists of ten (10) online facilitated sessions with self-study and assignments between sessions and five (5) 1:1 coaching sessions.

Strong Leaders is best for*:

• People managers with two or more years of people leadership experience.
• Those that find themselves saying “I’ve been a people leader for a couple of years and I want to advance my leadership capability”.
• Leaders with at least 1 direct report.

What you’ll learn:

By the end of these sessions, you’ll be able to:

• Understand the skills and traits to excel as a people leader.
• Manage group dynamics and effective teamwork.
• Develop your range of leadership skills and abilities (i.e. leading change, resolving conflict, and motivating others).
• Coach effectively by learning the requisite skills, behaviours and personal qualities.
• Set goals and provide structure while keeping your team engaged.

All sessions will be held virtually via Zoom* from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. ET.

*You’ll receive calendar invites for each session from academy@communitech.ca once your registration has been reviewed, which will include Zoom meeting details.

In addition to these scheduled sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with your chosen coach (selection takes place after the first session) five times throughout the program, subject to scheduling between you and your coach.

The coaching sessions will be held virtually via Zoom or Google Hangouts.

How big is the program?

Maximum of 20 participants and filled on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit of six participants per company.

Registration* fees:

• Communitech member: employees of startup and mid-size companies: $2,700
• Communitech member: employees of enterprise and associate companies: $3,375
• Non-members: $4,050

*Note: To encourage diversity of thought, we cap participant enrolment at a maximum of six employees per company. If you would like more people from your organization to benefit from this program, let us know and we can talk about a potential team session.
