What you'll do:

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are responsible for the provision of direct support to adults with intellectual disabilities. Community Inclusion is an important aspect of the job. Duties include: provision of assistance with all skills of daily living, personal care; skill development, household management; and support to individuals to enable them to live a normal life fully in their community.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma (e.g. Developmental Service Worker, Behaviour Science, Behavioural Psychology, Social Service Worker, Child Youth Worker, or degree) is preferred and/or at least one year work experience in social services. In some cases, a PSW certificate or other experience may be considered.
  • A valid, Province of Ontario class “G2” driver’s license is required;
  • Demonstrated core competencies in the areas of advocating for others, collaboration, creative problem solving and decision making, fostering independence in others, initiative, resilience and interpersonal relationships and respect;
  • Ability and willingness to work varying/rotating shifts (including days, afternoon, evenings, weekends, and holidays).
  • Experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities is desirable.
  • a satisfactory criminal record check
  • Must have a work permit to work in Canada
  • Must be computer literate,
