About this Event

Leadership in 2021

The year ahead will not be an easy one. The economic, social, and public health challenges facing Canada are significant. As leaders guide organizations and staff responding to Canadians’ needs, they’re already feeling the weight of difficult choices in complex circumstances. This year’s keynote speakers have something to say about leadership in and through difficult situations.

Sacha Médiné

Racially just leadership after 2020: Answering the call of an uprising

Sacha is a Black counsellor, supervisor, and educator based in Vancouver, on unceded Coast Salish territories. His work and activism are focused on providing support and solidarity to individuals, communities and organizations impacted by, struggling for liberation from, or seeking to be accountable to their participation in systems of structural violence such as White Supremacy, Patriarchy, and Settler Colonialism.

In addition to his counselling and consulting practice, he is currently an associate faculty member at the City University of Seattle’s Master of Counselling program and a clinical instructor with the UBC Medical School Department of Family Practice.

Kendal Netmaker
