Join our community planting day and help bring the "Expanding Our Relations: Indigenous Placemaking in the Park" grant to life.
Things to bring: Bring wheelbarrows, shovels, and work gloves.
A lunch of bagels, toppings + fruit will be shared in the middle of the planting day. Please bring your own plate + cutlery + cups/water bottles to join in. (There will be vegetarian options, but we are unable to accommodate other dietary restrictions)
Details: Wisahkotewinowak and a group of Mount Hope neighbours are hosting the 2nd of 3 planting days in Guelph Street Garden Park (Uniroyal Gooderich Park). Last spring, volunteers helped put in a 50ft wild flower garden bed. Now we are planting gooseberry bushes, native trees, wild onion and so much more.
Wisahkotewinowak is an urban Indigenous garden collective building Land-based relationships across the Grand River Territory. They are a group of Indigenous (First Nation and Métis) Peoples and settler-allies who also wear many hats as gardeners, researchers/academics, teachers/educators, students and life-long learners.
