Event description

Description

The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is a national conservation program that provides Canadians the opportunity to take action in their communities wherever water meets land, one bit of trash at a time. Presented by Loblaw Companies Limited, The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is one of the largest direct action conservation programs in Canada. A conservation partnership by Ocean Wise and WWF, the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup aims to promote understanding of shoreline litter issues by engaging Canadians to rehabilitate shorelines through cleanups.

At this Community Project, volunteers will participate in a shoreline clean-up at Britannia Beach. We acknowledge that Britannia Beach is located on unceded Algonquin territory. A picnic lunch and educational walk to learn about the indigenous teachings will take place in the afternoon.

Registration will open on August 13, 2019.

This is an outdoor activity and volunteers are asked to dress for the weather. Closed-toed shoes are mandatory and a personal water bottle and hat are recommended.

Transportation will be provided. Participants are asked to meet in the AC Hub (2nd Floor, Student Commons) at 9:00am.

Space is limited.
