Description

Sorting community food donations is a fun and engaging experience, all while helping to get much-needed food to our neighbours where we do live and do business. Each year our volunteer groups sort 900,000 pounds of community food donations.

Age Limit: Children must be 8 years of age or older to participate in food sorting. All children between the ages of 8 and 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and have a waiver form (available here).

Donation: Please support the work of The Food Bank and bring non-perishable food or cash donation with you to food sorting. A bag of Phil's Favourite Things; $10 for adult, $5 for a child, or 20$ for a family. Tax receipts are available for all cash donations or proof of food purchase.

You may make your financial donation by cash, credit card or cheque when you arrive, or in advance at thefoodbank.ca/donate.

Attire: For many of the volunteer activities you will be working in a warehouse environment and heavy lifting will be required. For your comfort and safety, please wear closed toe and flat footwear. Work gloves are optional. Dress comfortably and in layers as the temperature can fluctuate.
