Event description

Description

The Sweat Lodge is a place of spiritual refuge and mental and physical healing. It is a place to reconnect with the forces of Mother Nature that create and sustain us.

The Lodges last approximately 3 hours and are physically demanding. Participants should be in good health.

Participants should arrive by 6:30pm, the ceremony starts at 7:00pm.

There will be seperate lodges for men and women. both lodges will be lead by experienced male and female First Nations Elders.

The event is free, but space is limited so all participants must register.

Here are some general guidelines for participating in this Ceremony:

  • It is customary to bring a small offering of loose tobacco. If you don’t have any, don’t worry! We will have some extra available ahead of time for you to use.
  • For physical and spiritual reasons, woman should not participate in a sweat lodge ceremony during their period.
  • Dress should be modest. Men can wear long shorts and t-shirts, women can wear long sleeve top with skirt or gown to the ankles.
  • Abstain from drugs and alcohol for 24 hours prior to the sweat.
  • Bring water, a towel or two, and a change of cloths.
