Empowering Vaccine Resilient Communities

About this event

*Next Offering: Feb 15th @ 1pm*

We are helping to build vaccine resiliency in our community through offering a series of free educational opportunities including a webinar, practical session and toolkit access.

These educational opportunities are aimed at community members who are interested in becoming a Community Vaccine Champion who will provide peer support to vaccine hesitant individuals in the community. Once a month, two community vaccine champions will host a call with members of the community who have not received a vaccine. This will provide an opportunity for dialogue and for the volunteers to share their experience with vaccination.

CVC Volunteer Role

  • Participate in mandatory training (3 hour webinar + 3 hour practical session)
  • Co-facilitate a monthly call for 4 to 8 months alongside System Navigator and another trained volunteer (1.5 hours / month)
  • Participate in any pre and post evaluation strategies (e.g., baseline information, interview etc.).

Community Vaccine Champion Workshop (Feb 15th at 1 pm)

The objectives of this interactive 3 hour webinar include:

-Build collective wisdom.

- Understand where we’re at in vaccine uptake and hesitancy.

- Uncover the ‘misinformation’ associated with the Covid-19 vaccine.

- Explore how we relate to those who remain unvaccinated.

- Review our own resiliency tools and learn the four key areas to help build ‘vaccine resilience’.

- Define ‘appreciative inquiry’ and learn the elements of a ‘coaching conversation’.

- Consider how we can be better ‘active listeners’.

- Define and discuss the value of ‘peer support’.

Practical Session (date will be decided on as a group during workshop)

The objective of this interactive 2 hour webinar include:

- Practice peer-support skills learned in the Community Vaccine Champion Workshop.

CVC Toolkit

Access to our online CVC Toolkit will be provided to those that attend these volunteer educational opportunities. This Toolkit will contain training handouts, local supports, evidence-based vaccine resources and additional opportunities for engagement.

To fully engage in the interactive activities, please be prepare with a journaling device (e.g., empty word document, pen and paper etc.). A short break will be provided at mid-way point during the 3 hour webinar. It is also encouraged that you watch the Peer Support Video found in Peer Support Module in our CVC Toolbox after the webinar and before attending the Practical Session.
