Event description

Description

The COMPASS workshops were created to fill a critical gap in the CPD landscape for Physical Therapists in Canada, that being the opportunity to develop their interpersonal skills of communication, empathy, connection, and patient empowerment. The two-day workshops are highly interactive with several active learning opportunities and are based on personal reflection and respectful peer feedback. The workshops are structured around the CARE model – Connect, Accept, Respond, and Empower, with some lecture to describe evidence supporting the importance of each component for optimizing patient outcomes, satisfaction, adherence and retention, mixed with fun and engaging reflective activities. The videotaped simulated communication session is consistently described as one of the most valuable learning opportunities our participants have had in many years.
