Event description

Description

Compassion Fatigue, often referred to as “the cost of caring”, affects people in a wide range of caring relationships and helping professions. It is characterized by physical and emotional exhaustion and, over time, decreases our ability to empathize.

We invite you to join us for this workshop exploring Compassion Fatigue & Self-Care. Facilitated by Registered Nurse Laurie Denton, you will learn to:

  • Recognize common warning signs and symptoms of Compassion Fatigue
  • Develop personal and practical strategies for practicing regular self-care
  • Build resiliency skills to help manage stress

Laurie Denton, RN

Registered Nurse Laurie Denton has made a career in community wellness. She is passionate about providing people with opportunities for growth, education and greater well-being. Through a holistic, strengths-based approach she helps people actualize their full potential and regain their enthusiasm for life.

Over the years, Laurie has been fortunate to work closely with, and learn from the expertise of, Michael Douglas, a certified trainer in Compassion Fatigue and Vicarious Trauma. She looks forward to sharing this knowledge with a new group of helping professionals and people in various caring roles.
