Event description

Each fall, Compute Canada invites researchers to apply to our annual Resource Allocation Competitions (RAC) and request storage and compute resources. These competitions are open to researchers from all disciplines based at Canadian academic institutions who are eligible to apply for funding from the federal granting agencies.

Applications submitted to these competitions are evaluated for both technical feasibility and scientific excellence. Successful applicants receive resources on our available systems and have priority access for these allocations.

RAC 2019 will launch on September 27, 2018. To learn more about this year's competitions, we are hosting an online Q&A Session. Everybody is welcome.

About the 2019 Competitions:

Researchers can apply to two resource allocation competitions:

  • Research Platforms and Portals (RPP) Competition
The Research Platforms and Portals (RPP) Competition is targeted specifically at applications that create new or support existing research platforms or portals. Allocations in this competition may be awarded over multiple years, up to a maximum of three years.

  • Resources for Research Groups (RRG) Competition
The Resources for Research Groups (RRG) Competition is a peer-reviewed competition created to enable faculty members, and their sponsored research groups, to access compute and storage resources beyond what can be obtained via the Rapid Access Service. Allocations are awarded based on the quality of the science, quality of the research team, and development of highly qualified personnel (HQP).
