Description

Position Description: Based out of The Career Foundation’s Scarborough location, this position will serve to facilitate group workshops to a wide range of clients. The material will be focused on introducing participants to the computer and building a foundation of technical literacy for those with little or no computer skills to help them search for and apply to employment opportunities.

Volunteer Computer Workshop Facilitator

Position Type: Part time volunteer (3 - 5 hours per week with flexible hours)

Location(s): Scarborough

Experience: 3+ years

Start Date:ASAP

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Conducts onsite/offsite workshops including, (but not limited to) Computer Basics, Intro to Email, Intro to Word)
  • Participates in the (re)design, implementation & evaluation of workshop material to meet the needs of participants
  • Collects participant surveys following the workshop
  • Set-up and clean-up of laptops (offsite workshops may require the transport of laptops)

Qualifications/ Skills Required:

  • Experience working with adults and/or youth as a teacher or facilitator
  • Strong computer skills with MS Word, MS Excel, Internet and Email
  • Excellent ability to communicate, this includes oral, written and listening skills
  • Strong internal and external customer service focus, positive/professional attitude, initiative and lots of patience
  • Experience working with a variety of people including youth, seniors, newcomers, persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups

Access to a vehicle is an asset
