Concert for Peace: Grand Gong Master Don Conreaux and Local Musicians
Event Information
About this event
Feb 9, 2019, Saturday - Don Conreaux's first Concert for Peace and Humanity in Canada! Join for an evening of Gong sounds and music inspired and conducted by Grand Gong Master Don Conreaux. This is an improvised concert with local Gong players, musicians, and performers. Don begins with Shruti Songs for Peace on the shruti box, followed by an improvised in-the-moment curation of holistic Gong sounds, bowls, drums (tabla by Gurpreet Chana - The Tabla Guy), oboe, and more, culminating in what Don calls "spiritual free jazz". Join us at College Street United Church from 7:30pm. Doors open at 7PM.
This event precedes York University's 17th annual All Nations Pow Wow in March. All proceeds from this event go towards supporting Indigenous student initiatives at York University (ASAY - Aboriginal Students' Association at York).
Event is by donation to encourage students and folks with limited income to attend. If this is you, please join us, pay what you can. If you are gainfully employed, that is awesome. As a suggestion, $25, if you are able. Your donation will make a difference in Indigenous students' programs.
Thank you for your interest in Gong sounds and Peace. It is important. As Don says, "You are a Gong. I am a Gong." And, "Let us work together."
Notes: Seating for the Concert for Peace is in church pews. Also, the building is fully wheelchair accessible. Please arrive early or on time. Miigwetch, Thank you, Merci.
