Event description

Description

To efficiently design reinforced concrete building structures in Canada, structural engineers and designers need a thorough understanding of the CSA A23.3 design standard provisions. Keeping abreast of the most up-to-date technical changes and learning about the rationale behind them will enhance a designer’s proficiency in implementing these changes in day-to-day practice.

This one-day seminar will provide participants with an overview of the main changes to the CSA A23.3-14 standard and the advancements in the 4th Edition of the Concrete Design Handbook, Canada’s premier guide for concrete design. Topics covered include flexure, compression members and walls, slabs and deflections, shear, foundations, anchorage and seismic design. Design examples will be used throughout the seminar to illustrate the application of the new CSA A23.3-14 design provisions.

Learning Objectives

  • identify the main technical changes to the CSA Group A23.3-14 standard,
  • understand the rationale behind the changes in the latest standard, and
  • become familiar with the Concrete Design Handbook 4th Edition and the material covered by the publication.
