Connecting Circles: Celebrating Guelph Black Heritage
Event Information
About this Event
10C Connecting Circles are safe free opportunities for older adults and seniors in Guelph and Wellington County to virtually connect with people in their community
These are relaxed discussions and workshops meant to provide everyone 50+ with a new way to reach out to members of their community in a fun and safe setting.
Learn about Guelph's Black Heritage from the underground railroad to Black soldiers of WWI and current initiatives of the Guelph Black Heritage Society.
Monday February 22nd 7:00pm-8:00pm we welcome Joy Sammy from the Guelph Black Heritage society to share a presentation on Guelph's Black Heritage.
The Guelph Black Heritage Society (GBHS) was formed after the BME Church was listed for sale in November 2011. The purpose of the GBHS is to preserve the historical significance of the BME Church by creating a cultural, historical and social centre within Guelph and Wellington County. The Guelph BME Church building has been renamed Heritage Hall.
Joy is on the Board of Directors at the Guelph Black Heritage Society, a Community Animator at 10C and Manager of Workplace Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at the Upper Grand District School Board.
Connecting Circles are delivered through Zoom - With an invitation link sent out to all participants by email.
