Event description
Unlearn and relearn ways to connect with our changing culture

About this Event

One of the areas that we are failing to address as church leaders relates to questions concerning our influence and presence in our changing culture. It is becoming more evident that leaders and churches have become secluded in their own faith communities and have not led out of their God given responsibility to be an example in how to connect with their cities, towns and villages. As a result, we have created a narrative of “us and them” or at worst " us vs. them" and it is hindering us from being salt and light to a broken world.

The time is ripe to initiate a conversation that will focus on new behaviours that get us, and our faith communities, connected to our culture. It is crucial that we learn to follow the leading of the Spirit, as guided by Scripture, so we can listen and learn how to build new relationships. In doing so, new and healthy theological perspectives can emerge that will give rise to a fresh take on leadership for the emerging next generation. God’s vision for our churches is clear; to help us regain our influence so that we can effectively connect our culture to the life giving message of Jesus and his Kingdom purposes.

Join us for this exciting two-day workshop with Rev. Dr. Domenic Ruso, who is living at the edge of this conversation. As founder and church planter of The 180 Church in the greater Montreal area, Dom is experiencing some of the realities of doing ministry in our new secular contexts. In just over two years, The 180 Church has grown to over 200 people with a vision to see God continue to open new doors of connection with unbelievers which can lead to God-honouring influence in the large province of Quebec.

Through his experience of planting this new church in one of the most secular cultures in North America, Dom is convinced that unlearning and learning is the key to helping us restore fresh connection with our church's cultural presence. Along with his ministry experience, Dom's years of academic learning will help you go deeper in your biblical framework to stir new conversations with your next gen. leaders, boards and larger church community. The old church growth models are crumbling before our eyes, yet God is building his church. It is time to be intentional about making new connections and fostering new relationships to become the church your city needs!

In this workshop, Domenic will help you shift your perspective, re-examine your present context and provide ways to be a catalyst in your church. Through his story and experiences, he will share key necessary behaviours for those serious about leadership for a future that connects and builds trusted relationships that make room for gospel effectiveness. You will walk away with your own strategy of how to engage your city by creating deep, important connections that contribute to growth in your faith community.

This is a two day workshop offered Wednesday June 19 at 10:00 am through to Thursday June 20 at 1:30 pm. The cost is $150.00 which includes materials, food, and accommodations.
