By the end of this event, you will understand your emotional relationship with food and you will have the strategies to let go of emotional eating, even after you return home. You’ll never be alone because we have a support system in place where you can connect with other people you have so much in common with.

Understanding why you eat when you are not hungry

You have an auto pilot that literally forces you to eat.

Does this surprise you? It surprised me! I discovered that many of the eating choices I make are actually “auto pilot choices”. To think that I am not consciously choosing what I eat or when I eat and that I have developed an “auto pilot” when it comes to food and overeating, well, that realization scares me!

All our lives we program ourselves with behaviors related to eating. We are bored or lonely or stressed, so we eat. Whenever I was feeling lonely, I’d run to the fridge for a snack. The snack actually kept me company in the evenings!

Such behaviors become automatic. We don’t even question them because they are now habits. Does this sound reasonable? How many times have you eaten food without being fully aware of the food or the eating? How many times have you eaten food for reasons other than hunger? Habits are not reasonable. They can be reactions to emotional triggers.
