In the past year, there has been a swell in coverage about sexual violence on university campuses in mainstream Canadian media.
Ryerson introduced a new policy on sexual violence in 2015 and is now actively working with students, faculty and staff to create a culture of consent on campus. This practical skill-building workshop will provide an overview of what is sexual violence and consent, the impact of trauma and how to support survivors when they disclose.
Participants will deepen their capacity to respond appropriately to a disclosure of sexual assault and provide referrals to campus resources. It will also be an opportunity to learn about the innovative ways in which Ryerson is addressing sexual violence through policy, practices and community education through the new Office of Sexual Violence Support and Education. Together we can create a campus where consent always comes first.
